All camps will be taught by Dr. Jian Shen.
Camp Format
Each camp will be a combination of class lectures and student presentations. During each camp Dr. Shen will focus on the following three important aspects:

Teaching students fundamental concepts in mathematics

Enhancing students’ problem solving ability

Training students public presentation skills
Students will be partitioned into groups of three or four. All students will have equal opportunities to make presentation in class. In addition all students are encouraged to do daily pushups with Dr. Shen and to do weekly running with Dr. Shen.
Below is a typical daily schedule for a 3hour halfday camp. (The fullday camp will be conducted in a similar fashion.)

Lecture 1 by Dr. Shen (50 minutes)

Short break (10 minutes)

Lecture 2 by Dr. Shen (50 minutes)

Long break, pushup with Dr. Shen, and snack (20 minutes)

Student group discussion and presentation (30 minutes)

Daily quiz (20 minutes)

Weekend running with Dr. Shen (at least once for each camp)

Introduce problem solving techniques in Algebra 1.
Introduce basic problem solving techniques in Combinatorial Counting. Topics include counting rules, permutations, combinations, etc.
Introduce basic problem solving techniques in Elementary Number Theory. Topics include divisibility, greatest common divisor, least common multiple, etc.
Introduction of Game Theory.
Prepare students for Dr. Shen’s course (MathCounts/AMC8) in the Fall semester.
Enhance student public presentation skills.
Prerequisites: PreAlgebra, or approved by camp instructor.

Enhance problem solving techniques in Algebra 1.
Introduce problem solving techniques in Algebra 2
Introduce basic problem solving techniques in Discrete Mathematics. Topics include counting, permutations, combinations, discrete probability.
Introduce problem solving techniques in Number Theory. Topics include divisibility, greatest common divisor, least common multiple, Euclidean Algorithm, proofs.
Introduce basic problem solving techniques in Game Theory.
Enhance student public presentation skills.
Prerequisites: Algebra 1, or approved by camp instructor.
Camp Title: Advanced Problem Solving
Review important concepts in Algebra and Geometry.
Enhance problem solving techniques in Algebra and Geometry.
Introduce advanced problem solving techniques in mathematics competition. Topics include logic, combinatorics, algebra, algebraic combinatorics, discrete probability, number theory, plane geometry, analytic geometry, inequalities.
Prepare students for Dr. Shen’s courses (AMC10/12, MathCounts) in the Fall semester.
Enhance student public presentation skills.
Prerequisites: Algebra 1 and Geometry, or approved by camp instructor

Summer Camp Refund Policy for Problem Solving  Level 2 (June 1923 and 2630) :
Cancelled one month before class starts: 100% refund minus a $25 processing fee
Cancelled two weeks before class starts: 75% refund minus a $25 processing fee
Cancelled one week before class starts: 50% refund minus a $25 processing fee
Cancelled before class starts: 25% refund
Cancelled after class starts: No refund
Summer Camp Refund Policy for all other Math Camps:
Cancelled 45 days before class starts: 100% refund minus a $25 processing fee
Cancelled one month before class starts: 75% refund minus a $25 processing fee
